Rare find: the invisible villa. Hard to locate it even when you know where it is.

We created our home with “meraki”. Reward yourself with it!

We wanted to enjoy the rural lifestyle while being really close to the northern suburbs of Athens city. At 15 miles from Kifisia, we found this wooded hilltop where we could build our dear house.

We enjoyed the great outdoors every single day and when in the mood, it was really easy to go hiking or trekking in the beautiful trails of Parnitha Mountain or for a quick dip in the clear and warm South Evoian Sea. With the space provided by 13000 square meters of private pine woods, our dogs couldn’t be any happier while from time to time we played with the idea of transforming the house exterior to a farm.

We also wanted to be as resilient as possible. So we installed a three-phase generator with its own 1000 ltr diesel oil tank, built a 80000+ ltrs water tank that is replenished by rainwater but can also be filled by truck and plenty of storage area, the house can operate outside the grid for one month before requiring additional diesel oil. We also installed automation using the X-10 system and in-wall devices.

We designed our house to be the perfect one for us “in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health.” So, we took extra care to make it accessible to people with kinetic difficulties. It is a wonderful perfect one-level home for everyone, especially if there are seniors in the family that need easy access to all rooms and a wonderful garden to explore. All of the main house (250 sq. m.) are accessible by wheelchair, the rooms are very spacious, the light switches, locks, plugs, alarms are all installed to accessible heights.

While designing the house, we fell in love with Christopher Alexander’s work, studied his “pattern language” and we used 21 of the patterns to make the house come alive.
